What is the Triple Captain in Fantasy Premier League?

Are you wondering what the FPL Triple Captain is? Or when to use it? All your questions will be answered in this Fantasy Premier League guide.

You can only use the Triple Captaincy once per seasonand your selected captain will have their points tripled rather than doubled.

If Harry Kane (£11.5m)scores 12 points as his base score, he would earn 24 as your captain. With the Triple Captaincy armband, Kane's score would multiply to 36 points overall.

How do you use the Triple Captain in Fantasy Premier League?

To use the chip, click on the green bar under 'Triple Captain' and save your team to confirm the change.

Activating the Triple Captaincy is simple and can be cancelled at any time before the deadline.

Just like the Bench Boost, the Triple Captain can be cancelled so if you activate it, you are always able to revert your decision.

The other two chips, the Wildcard and Free Hit, are irreversible once played.

When Should you Activate the FPL Triple Captain?

The introduction of chips such as Triple Captain, Bench Boost and Free Hit has changed the way in which we approach FPL. Like most chips, the Triple Captaincy is often used in a Double Gameweek when a team has two matches within a Gameweek.

Manchester United had three fixtures in Gameweek 35, forming a Triple Gameweek. Fantasy managers stocked up on some of the best assets such as Bruno Fernandes and Mason Greenwood. These opportunities are ideal for activating the Triple Captaincy.

Otherwise, it's worth targeting individual fixtures such as Liverpool versus Norwich City inthe opening game of the season.
