How To Change A Battery In A Galaxy S7
Replace S7 Battery - is it worth it?
Hi all,
I want to replace my S7 battery. The battery life lasts about 3 hours before dying, I've had this phone since June 2016, so it's been a while.
I want to use this kit: https://canada.ifixit.com/products/galaxy-s7-replacement-battery
To replace the battery. At this point, is it worth replacing? I would only be purchasing a new phone without a plan, so in this case I think it is. I'm wondering how long Samsung will continue to support security updates, etc on the phone.

If you're still happy with it, go for it. It's a pretty easy repair. I did one for a friend last month. Battery was a little stubborn coming out. You might want to order an extra glass back to be safe. Or just be very careful taking the original off (lots of heat).

Drops of isopropyl alcohol over each corner of the battery help a lot in the removal process.
Just drop some on top of the corners of the battery , tilt the phone about a bit so the alcohol goes behind the battery, wait a few minutes and it comes out pretty easily with some squelching sounds from the alcohol.
My battery wasn't warped or bent in any way when I used this technique.

Replacing the battery and glass will keep this bugger running . It's your call m8. It's still a great phone all around. Sure the camera isn't up to the newest specs , but again it's your call if you want to spend $1000 for a new phone or spend around $100 to keep this going. I got my S7 almost 4 yrs and it runs like it's brand new. It's your call m8.

Yeah, it is. Replaced mine a few months ago. This is still a well functioning phone. I'm not a heavy user, so ymmv. Folks say there were no huge upgrades until S10 came along. Just hearsay...

I'm not really either.. Only for social media, Spotify and the occasional streaming. Okay great!

I'd think it's worth it. Even if you replace the phone for something new later you can still use the s7 for nothing thing like a dedicated music player etc... Ive only replaced my battery with cheap 10 dollar replacements on amazon with 90% or so of the original life, but it still useful. Just be careful when opening the back or you might be out another 10 to replace the glass

The back glass is already broken, so I would be buying a new one anyway!

Replaced my battery and it's like a new phone. But now I'm getting the pink line down the screen.

I don't live in Canada so I don't know the prices of phones there but if u could get the s8 for a good price that would be better. If the s7 does what you need then replace the battery and save money. The s7 is still a pretty good phone.

Hmm best buy has some deals right now, 300$ for an S8 used, 361$ for a refurbished S8+ (all CAD)...

Thing is a nice new S10 is around $1000, So like 1/3 the price for a phone that's getting kinda old
And the phone functions really well apart from the battery, and the system storage being only 32G. My main concern is the security updates.

My first battery lasted me 2 years. The phone would always over heat and drain fast if I was using the VR head set. So the battery was found to have buldged.
they battery they replaced it with was for a S6, meaing the phone reconized that the battery was only at 80$ when the battery was acutally full. That lasted two days before i got that fixed

Replacing the battery is relatively cheap and easy so I would recommended. I replaced my s7's battery a few months ago without any prior experience and it wasn't very difficult. I did end up getting an s10e about a month ago though because the s7 is really slow so maybe just get a new phone.

It's only worth it if you love the phone. You can get a refurbished s8 for about the same cost.
